Panacea opens cancer drug production facility in India

Panacea Biotec has opened a new Rs550m ($10.7m) oncology facility at Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, India, to meet the growing demand of anti-cancer products in the country.

The new manufacturing facility which is set up in compliance with regulatory standards is expected to increase the annual production capacity to around 1.2 million vials.

Panacea Biotec joint managing director Rajesh Jain said the new facility for manufacturing anti-cancer products will not only enable to scale up production, but also offer substantial affordable medicine to consumers at large.

"This new facility will improve our ability to develop and deliver world class affordable Medicine, and will also equip us to keep pace with the growing demand for anticancer products globally," Jain added.

The company said it is in the process of registering its range of anti-cancer products in Europe, US and in the emerging markets
